FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — When Deborah Vanicek’s voice mingles with the lyrics from her latest release, you get a feeling of newness, like spring has returned after a long, cold winter.

Her latest release, “The Lights,” features nine original songs that she has been working on for several years. Her brother, David Lutes, joins her on the CD.

“I grew up playing music with my family, and it’s because of them that I made this album,” Vanicek said. “I originally wrote the songs on piano and guitar. The process of growing and refining them, with the help of my brother and the talented guys who mixed and mastered the album, has been so much fun.”

Vanicek’s style draws on many genres of music. You can definitely pick up jazz and country influences. But there’s really no way to pigeonhole Vanicek’s unique music and style. She sings from the heart and draws you in with her words and music.

Vanicek will be holding a CD release concert June 5 at the Uptown Theatre, 218 Main St. The lobby doors open at 6 p.m. with the theater doors opening at 7 p.m. The concert starts at 7:30 p.m.

Admission is free.

You can get a feel for her music at iTunes, where you can listen to samples of her songs for free.

This is her second CD.
