Copperas Cove woman killed in Briggs accident involving 18-wheeler on U.S. 183


BRIGGS — A Copperas Cove woman died at the scene of a collision between her car and an 18-wheeler on U.S. 183 on May 28, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report.

The collision was reported at 3:40 p.m. just off the intersection of loop 308 outside Briggs in far north Burnet County.

The report stated 36-year-old Fengling Wu of Copperas Cove, driving a 2013 Nissan, “pulled out of Loop 308 attempting to make a left turn to go south on 183 and was struck” by the 2004 freight liner, which was listed as being from Western Dairy in Stephenville.

Wu was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:45 p.m. by Burnet County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Lisa Whitehead.

The DPS trooper reported no injuries to the driver of the 18-wheeler.
