BERTRAM — Bertram City Council added two new members during a special meeting May 20.

Mike Konarik, who defeated James Worrell for Glen Hopkins’ vacated seat, was sworn in. Council members then appointed Ray Berrett to fill the seat of former council member John Mandigo.

Mandigo did not run for re-election, and no one filed during the election for the spot.

Berrett will serve a one-year term.

In other action, the council approved the hire of Adam Lambert for utility director, according to Georgina Hernandez, Bertram’s city secretary and treasurer.

“We had appointed an interim director, but the day-to-day (duties) came from the mayor (Dickie Allen),” Hernandez said.

The position had been vacant for more than a year, Hernandez said. Lambert is scheduled to begin June 8.
