MARBLE FALLS — One of the comic book world’s biggest names is returning to Marble Falls.
Arthur Suydam, known for his work on “Marvel Zombies,” “Deadpool,” “Batman,” “Army of Darkness,” “The Walking Dead” and more, will sign autographs at Gameday Cards, Comics & Video Games, 1814 U.S. 281, on May 21 from noon until closing. Suydam will have merchandise and memorabilia available at the signing, or people can bring their own items for him to sign.
Store owner Sam Pearce befriended Suydam years ago and hosted the artist in Marble Falls in 2011.
“He’s a good friend, and it’s kinda strange, somewhat,” Pearce said about his friendship with the New York artist.
In between attending comic shows in Dallas and Houston, Suydam will be in Marble Falls.
“If you don’t want to go to Dallas or Houston, you can come here, and he’ll have everything that’s being offered at the comic (conventions),” Pearce said.
Suydam earned the title “Zombie King” for his work on “Marvel Zombies.” In that series, a virus infects the Earth and turns superheroes, including the Hulk, Spider-Man, Thor and Wolverine, into the undead.
Suydam also has illustrated comic covers for “DeadPool,” “Dead Days,” “Wolverine,” “Ghost Rider,” “Thor” and “The Fantastic Four.” On top of his illustrating talents, Pearce said Suydam is an accomplished writer and musician.
Suydam won a Grammy for his work along with Bruce Springsteen and has performed with a number of A-list musicians.
