MARBLE FALLS — Burnet and Marble Falls high school senior softball players Ashleigh Glover and Tyler Oppenheim are the latest of a line of Burnet County athletes who have been selected to play in the Greater Austin Area All-Star Game.
The contest is 7 p.m. June 11 at Austin Westlake, 4100 Westbank Drive in Austin.
“I didn’t even know (the game) existed,” Oppenheim said. “It’s a good feeling to know I was selected.”
“It’s amazing, it’s a great opportunity,” Glover said. “The simple fact is I’m graduating and get to go play in the game.”
Oppenheim has been a starting shortstop for years, while Glover said she will play any position at which she’s needed “as long as I get to play.”
They will be playing for the north team, which will be coached by Cedar Park Vista Ridge’s Lauren Myrick.
The Lady Dawgs’ and the Lady Mustangs’ seasons ended in April.
“I’m still in shape,” Oppenheim said. “I run and work out every day with (teammate) Sarah Hodgdon.”
Glover has been recovering from injury.
