MARBLE FALLS — The start of spring practice for the Marble Falls High School football team May 1-2 has been cancelled.
Head coach Todd Dodge said the reason is “just because I chose not to.”
He did not indicate when spring ball would start.
Since Darren Allman resigned as the head coach and athletic director at Austin Westlake, Dodge has been one of the coaches thought to be in the mix to take over the Chaparrals. Eanes Independent School District officials must wait 10 business days after the job posted, which was April 25, before they can hire the next coach.
“Todd Dodge is still the head coach and athletic director at Marble Falls,” said Marble Falls Independent School District Superintendent Rob O’Connor. “From my perspective, it’s understandable to delay spring practice until you have a complete staff.”
On April 14, Marble Falls offensive coordinator Bill Poe resigned to become the head coach at Northwest High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
Dodge has not announced a new offensive coordinator.
Spring practice was scheduled to run May 1-2, 5-8, 12-15 and 19-21 with the spring game May 22.
