MARBLE FALLS — Members of the Marble Falls Independent School District athletic department are trying to accomplish many things in a four-hour span.

In a joint effort to raise money for the department, athletes going into the seventh through 12th grades can take a physical April 26 for $20 at Max Copeland Gym, 2101 Mustang Drive. The event starts at 8 a.m. and concludes at noon. The money is going to the Marble Falls Athletic Booster Club, which helps supplement the athletic department’s budget.

Athletes are required to have annual physicals, so doctors have donated their time. In addition, the nurses at the MFISD campuses and high school students in the nursing program also will be in attendance to help, said athletic trainer Leslie Tufano.

“It’s awesome,” she said.

Staff members are bracing for as many as 300 athletes. In addition to athletes taking physicals, guardians who need to sign paperwork for the upcoming school year can do so April 26.

“We’re offering it to them, so they can get it done,” Tufano said. “And it’s easier for the parents as well.”

The physicals are offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Athletes should wear T-shirts and shorts. If parents can’t to go to the gym April 26, athletes can pick up packets beforehand and bring the completed paperwork with them for their physicals.

Call Tufano or athletic trainer Brandon Belk at (830) 798-8345.
