FROM STAFF REPORTS

BURNET — A double play ended a wild game with the Burnet High School baseball team getting a 10-9 win against Llano on March 25 in District 8-3A action.

After the Yellow Jackets took a 1-0 lead in the third inning, the Bulldogs (10-7-3 overall, 3-0 district) responded with six runs in their half of the inning.

But Llano wasn’t done. Instead, the Jackets (2-1 district) scored a run in the fifth and five in the sixth for a 7-6 lead.

Burnet added four runs in the bottom half of the inning for a 10-6 advantage going into the final inning.

The Yellow Jackets didn’t concede the game, however, plating two runs during their last at-bat. And when it looked like they would tie the game with the bases loaded and only one out, the Bulldogs took away those hopes with a double play to end the contest.

Burnet recorded eight hits and six errors, while Llano had nine hits and three errors.
