Burnet baseball sweeps Graham in doubleheader
FROM STAFF REPORTS
BROWNWOOD — The Burnet High School baseball team swept Graham 3-2 and 12-2 in a doubleheader March 12.
In Game 1, Graham scored in the bottom of the first inning, but the Bulldogs answered by plating a run in the third, fourth and sixth innings. In all, Burnet recorded 10 hits but committed four errors. Pitcher Shae Edmonds went the distance.
“I really liked how we played the game and competed,” Bulldogs head coach Stephen Shipley said. “Shae wanted the chance to finish the game. Despite my reservations, we put the game on his shoulders in the bottom of the seventh, and he delivered.”
The Bulldogs seized control of the final game in the first inning, putting 11 runs on the board. The game ended in the fifth inning. Burnet had 10 hits and committed one error.
“We hit the ball better than I have seen all year,” Shipley said, “I hope we can keep it going into (District 8-3A).”
