Late runs put Taylor over Burnet baseball; district begins March 18
FROM STAFF REPORTS
TAYLOR — The Burnet High School baseball team lost 6-5 to Taylor on March 6 in a non-district match.
“Anytime we play a close game that puts pressure on us to perform, we get better, regardless of the outcome of the game,” Bulldogs head coach Stephen Shipley said. “But we would feel a lot better about it if we could have pulled it out.”
The Bulldogs (7-7-3) led 2-1 in the fourth and 5-3 in the sixth but gave up three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
Shipley complimented the pitching of Taylor Barksdale and the hitting of Jesse Barker.
“Taylor Barksdale did a great job on the mound,” he said, “and Jesse Barker continues to do a great job for us at the plate.”
The Bulldogs begin District 8-3A play 7:30 p.m. March 18 against Gatesville at Bulldog Diamonds, 1000 The Green Mile in Burnet.
