FROM STAFF REPORTS

BURNET — Burnet High School senior kicker and punter Austin Huff is aiming to take this skills to Texas State University at San Marcos.

On Feb. 9, Huff committed to the Bobcats.

“I’m very excited, a little nervous,” he said, “but very excited.”

The Bulldog attended kicking camps across the area last summer. One was at Texas State. where he met head coach Dennis Franchione.

“He felt the best connection there,” said Huff’s father, Jon. “He meet about 13 of the other signees about two weeks ago on a visit. He really likes where the program is going and really likes their business school.”

Huff will redshirt during the 2014-2015 school year because the Bobcats have Will Johnson and Jason Dann, who will be seniors, on the roster in the kicker and punter positions.
