OBITUARY: Marlene Mae McGehee, 78, of Kingsland dies Feb. 1, 2014

Marlene Mae McGehee, 78, of Kingsland, Texas, and Carver, Minn., died Feb. 1, 2014, at her home in Carver surrounded by her family and well-loved dogs.

A memorial service is 11 a.m. Feb. 7 at West Union Lutheran Church, 15820 Market Ave. in Cologne, Minn. There will be a celebration of life immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, Marlene’s wish was to have donations or memorials sent to Allina Health Hospice or the American Cancer Society.

Marlene was born Feb. 20, 1935, in Springfield, Mo., to Alva and Blanche (Butler) Holderby, one of five children. She married Bobby McGehee on Jan. 13, 1951, in Eureka Springs, Ark. Marlene and Bobby lived throughout the United States and enjoyed traveling together.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren and also enjoyed flowers and swimming.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lynn and sister Rosalie.

Survivors include her husband, Bobby; children, Mike (Jeannie) McGehee of Phoenix, Ariz., Patricia (Thomas) O’Connor of Menifee, Calif., Nanette (Allen) Mellgren of Carver, Minn., Tim (Carol) McGehee of Henderson, Nev., Virginia (David) Furin of Hibbing, Minn., and Bobbie Jo McGehee of Kingsland; 16 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; brother Harley (Nancy) Holderby of Carson City, Nev.; and sister Linda (Gary) Olson of Aitkin, Minn.
