Martha C. Box, a lifetime resident of Llano, Texas, passed away peacefully Jan. 9, 2014, at the age of 78. She was born Dec. 5, 1935, to Lube Lon and Ima Francis (Reagor) Talley.

She married J.P. Box Jr. on Feb. 15, 1956, at the home of Lee Roy and Roberta Strayhorn in Llano. He preceded her in death in 1976.

Martha also was preceded in death by her parents and brother Billy Talley.

Martha retired from Buttery Hardware and the City of Llano, where she was the city secretary. She was a member of First Baptist Church.

She was a very kind and giving person and loved her family dearly.

Survivors include sons, Robert Box and wife Sherry of Corpus Christi and Lonny Box and wife Penny of Conroe; daughter, Marsha McKneely and husband Larry of Cherokee; grandchildren, Jennifer and husband Paul Bordner of Cherokee, Michelle and husband Landon Buffe of Priddy and Jarrett Box and Joshua Box, both of Corpus Christi; and great-grandchildren, Kyler, Kase, Sadie, Addie, Carissa, Cody and Abigail. She also is survived by many nieces, nephews and good friends.

A funeral service was Jan. 12 at First Baptist Church in Llano with the Rev. Rick Cundieff officiating. Service music was provided by Ross Ellis and Deneise Woolsey. Burial followed at Cold Creek Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jarrett Box, Joshua Box, Paul Bordner, Kase Bordner, Landon Buffe, Cody McGee, Alan Hopson, Craig Dearing, Ron Cunningham and Ken Cline.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Back Pack Buddies or the charity of your choice.
