Levi Kemp died in Marble Falls, Texas, on Jan. 10, 2014. Born Oct. 3, 1924, in Ritz, Ark., he was one of seven children of William and Janie Floyd Kemp.

He married Henrietta Beaugh in Mertzon, Texas, on July 30, 1949.

Levi served during World War II in the European Theater of Operations, attaining the rank of sergeant in the U.S. Army. A retired construction superintendent, he moved his family across Texas and the United States, offering them the chance to see the country. He was considered by many as one of the best bosses they ever had.

He and his wife were former longtime residents of Odessa, San Angelo and Marble Falls before they both entered assisted living care.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Henrietta Kemp, in 2011 and three siblings, Dortha Rosenberry, Joann McConnell and Jack Kemp.

Survivors include son Michael Kemp and wife Janie of Montgomery; daughter, Deborah Pilcher of Kingwood; son Richard Kemp and wife Carol of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter Rebecca Beal and husband Randy of Marble Falls; grandchildren, Courtney Kemp (Ray), Carrie Kemp Kaltwasser (Steven), Geoffrey Pilcher (Jessica), Brady Beal (Whitney), McKenna Beal (Dave) and Ian and Devon; great-granddaughters, Zoe and Layla Kaltwasser and Madilyn Pilcher; great-grandson, Garrett Pilcher; one great-grandchild due in May; and three siblings Willie Mae Helms, Joyce Playford and William Kemp.
