Jack T. Wheeler, 75, of Austin passed away Dec. 24, 2013.
He served three years in the U.S. Navy on board the U.S. Phil SEA CVS 47 as an Alta Lifter. He retired from the Missouri Pacific Railroad and was a proud member of Teamsters Local 657, receiving multiple awards during his employment.
He was a member the American Rifle Association. The love of his life was the Professional Bull Riders Association.
He was preceded in death by his nephew Garvan Hillie Meredith.
He is survived by his sister Lois Meredith and husband Garvan of Leander; niece and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Jo Catchings; nephew Brandon Archer; niece Eliza Catchings and great-niece Ashley Archer.
A graveside service and interment was Dec. 28 at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park in Burnet with the Highland Lakes Honor Guard officiating.
The family suggests memorial donations be made to the Heart To Heart Hospice in Austin.
