MARBLE FALLS — The Faith Academy girls basketball team got its fifth consecutive victory by defeating Austin Regents 59-46 on Dec. 14.

The Lady Flames trailed by as many as seven points early in the first period but finished on a 15-9 run.

Faith began the second quarter on a 10-1 run and weren’t threatened anymore.

“I think my frustration is we can’t seem to put 32 minutes together,” Lady Flames head coach Jerry English said. “I thought we played pretty well. We had three days in a row of high-quality practices. I don’t think we came out ready to play at a higher level.”

All of Regents freshman guard Ellie Rice’s 12 points came from 3-pointers.

English complimented Rice for making the shots off of clean looks at the basket.

“The only downside to a sagging defense is you’re not alert,” he said. “That’s where those three-point shots came from. You’ve got to be there.”
