Burnet boys basketball squad goes 3-0 at Austin tournament

AUSTIN — The Burnet High School boys basketball team won all three of its games at the Austin St. Dominic Savio Tournament on Dec. 13-14.
The Bulldogs (5-4) beat Marion 47-44, St. Dominic Savio 51-35 and Grace Prep Academy 49-42.
Burnet raced to a 12-3 lead in the first quarter against Marion, but Marion stayed within three points the next two periods. The Bulldogs nailed 10-of-13 free throws in the final period for the win.
Burnet flexed its muscles against St. Dominic Savio, taking a 14-8 lead in the first quarter that steadily increased as the game wore on.
The Bulldogs and Grace Prep played to a 9-9 tie during the first quarter. A strong second quarter propelled Burnet to a 27-23 halftime lead.
ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM: Clayton Baumgart, Derek Kiser and Colton Stevens.
AGAINST MARION: points – Baumgart 13, Stevens 8, Brian Bullock 7, Joe Parker 6, Kiser 5, Darius Johnson 4, Chase Mardis 4
AGAINST ST. DOMINIC SAVIO: points – Stevens 20, Baumgart 18, Kiser 9, Parker 4
AGAINST GRACE PREP: points – Baumgart 22, Stevens 11, Parker 11, Johnson 3, Kiser 2
