FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls Young Guns youth basketball program is holding registration for boys and girls in first through sixth grades interested in playing in the upcoming season.

This year, the program is adding its first girls division. Officials hope to form at least four teams in each of the age groups.

The Young Guns will play some games against Llano squads.

“It will be exciting to compete against the teams from Llano,” said Eric Smith, a Young Guns representative. “They run great leagues, and we thought all of the kids would have a good time playing basketball.”

The Young Guns feature three divisions for boys and girls, separated by grades. The divisions consists of first and second grades, third and fourth grades and fifth and sixth grades.

Registration is $55 per player with tryouts slated for Dec. 16 at the Max Copeland-Mustang Gymnasium at Marble Falls High School, 2101 Mustang Drive.

Third- and fourth-grade tryouts are at 6 p.m. followed by fifth- and sixth-grade tryouts at 7 p.m.

First- and second-graders don’t need to try out.

Everyone will be placed on a team.

A registration form may be obtained by emailing marblefallssports@gmail.com or downloading one from www.marblefallssports.com.

The season starts Jan. 11, 2014, and games are played on Saturdays. The season ends Feb. 22 with a tournament.
