MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls High School football team had many accomplishments thanks to the athletes, said Mustangs head coach Todd Dodge.
Dodge made his comments during the program’s end-of-year awards ceremony Dec. 11.
“It was very, very special to me,” he said. “We had a tremendous group of seniors.”
He noted the win against Burnet; the way the team fought back in the second half against Cedar Park after trailing 37-0 though the Mustangs lost 51-39; being two minutes away from beating Leander Vandegrift; competing for 48 minutes for the 45-41 victory against Cedar Park Vista Ridge; and beating Dripping Springs on the road as season highlights.

He also told the story of a group of monkeys who were chasing bananas to illustrate the importance of believing in yourself. He said coaches often wonder if their players are listening.
“When I walked into the dressing room, there’s a strand of bananas hanging from our ceiling,” he said with a grin. “We control what we want to go after. We talked about promising never to give up or quit on each other.”
Certificates of participation were given to each player, including 64 freshmen who made up two squads during 2013.
