Burnet County GOP chair Linda Rogers announces run for county judge
FROM STAFF REPORTS
BURNET — After eight years as the Burnet County Republican chair, Linda Rogers has decided to try another chair, this one at the Burnet County Commissioners Court table.
Rogers announced she has filed to run for the Republican nomination for the Burnet County judge position. The primaries are March 4, 2014.
Rogers said she plans on re-emphasizing law enforcement as a priority.
“Every criminal removed from our area makes Burnet County a safer community,” Rogers said in an announcement.
Rogers, a fifth-generation Burnet County resident, said her desire is for conservative leadership in Burnet County.
“I have had the privilege of serving as the Burnet County Republican chairman for the past eight years, and now I want to be sure Burnet County moves forward with conservative Republican principles guiding decisions about how our tax dollars are spent,” Rogers said.
Rogers likely will face former Burnet County Commissioner James Oakley and Marble Falls Mayor George Russell, who both have announced their intention to seek the Republican nomination for the position.
Burnet County Judge Donna Klaeger announced earlier this year she would not be seeking re-election.
