OBITUARY: Allen Thomas Richerson, 53, formerly of Llano dies Nov. 10, 2013

Allen Thomas Richerson was born to Marion Lee Thomas and Burton Allen Richerson on April 19, 1960 in Odessa, Texas. At 53 years of age, Mr. Richerson passed away in the early hours of Nov. 10, 2013, after a seven-year battle with brain cancer at the Select Specialty Hospital of Dallas.

Mr. Richerson grew up and went to school in Odessa. He graduated from Odessa High School in 1978. He pursued a career in a computer-related industry, which led him to his 15-year employment with the Texas Attorney General’s Office as a network manager in the Child Support Division. He retired at the onset of his illness.

In addition to his keen skill with computers, he was equally as passionate playing guitars. Over the years, he helped establish and play in bands from the Odessa Junior College jazz band that traveled across the United States and Mexico to playing with Mr. Elliott Fikes and his band members in and around the Hill Country. He also was gifted with an eye for detail, which he captured on paper using charcoal, pencil and pen/ink mediums.

The Christian faith and interest of Mr. Richerson led him to two trips to Israel, where, on one trip, he was baptized in the Jordan River. Although he was brought up in the Baptist church, upon moving to Llano, he moved his church membership to Grace Episcopal Church, where he continuously received blessings of encouragement and love.

In 2011, on April 16, Mr. Richerson married longtime friend, Vivian Anne Tyler. They made their home in Corsicana, Texas.

He is survived by his wife, Vivian “Anne” Tyler of Corsicana, and sister, Cynthia “Cindy” Lynn Richerson of Llano.

He was preceded in death by his father, Burton Allen Richerson, and mother, Marion Lee Thomas Richerson.
