OBITUARY: Elmer Hans Carlsen, 90, of Kingwood dies Nov. 3, 2013

Elmer Hans Carlsen, 90, of Kingwood, Texas, passed away Nov. 3, 2013. Born April 3, 1923, in Louise, Texas, he was the son of Niels and Delphia Adena (Samaan) Carlsen.

Elmer served in the U.S. Navy from January 1943 to February 1946. He worked in the oil fields as a supervisor for Sam G. Harrison Oil Co. from December 1950 until he retired in December 2001.

He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Dottie; daughters, Chari Ricks and husband Ray of New Caney and Dettie MacCracken of Rio Linda, Calif.; sister Ellen Dahleen of Marble Falls; brother-in-law Bob Casey of Cleburne; and stepson, Allen Davis and wife Kim of Luling. Elmer also is survived by his grandchildren, Erica Dewey and husband Stephen, Christopher Ricks, Jennifer MacCracken and Guy MacCracken and wife Nickey; and his great-grandchildren, Zachary Ricks Kiser, Abigail Dewey and Emma Dewey. He also has an extended family of five step-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Keith Carlsen; his wife of 54½ years, Frances Carlsen; sisters Dagmar Keonig and husband Joe, Esther Cockrell, LaVerne Casey, Norma Harms and husband Carl; and brothers-in-law, Dude Cockrell and Bill Dahleen.

Visitation is 10:30 a.m. Nov. 9 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. A funeral service is 11:30 a.m. with Allen Davis officiating. Interment will be at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.

Pallbearers are Christopher Ricks, Guy MacCracken, Zachary Ricks-Kiser, Bill Fisher, Billy Dahleen, Ervin Cockrell and Stephen Dewey.
