MARBLE FALLS — The Faith Academy football team earned its second consecutive Division III District 3 crown thanks to stomping Temple Central Texas Christian 50-19.

With the victory, the Flames (10-0, 3-0) will host a first-round playoff game in the Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools at Pony Stadium on the Marble Falls Middle School campus with opponent, date and time to be determined.

“It feels great, it feels fantastic,” head coach Russ Roberts said. “The pressure of this win streak was surprising to me. It’s been difficult. I’m glad it’s over. I’m glad we got 20 wins. I’m glad we got the back-to-back district championships.”

Senior Austin Ellis finished the opening 98-yard drive with a two-yard plunge into the end zone. Ellis added the two-point conversion run for an 8-0 lead.

After CTC tied the game at 8-8, Faith’s Dalton Mayberry ran in a two-yard touchdown to finish off a 60-yard drive. Johnathan Reyes added the extra point for a 15-8 lead.

Ellis added another two-yard touchdown run that completed a 40-yard drive. The two-point pass failed, but Faith led 21-8 midway through the second quarter.

Ellis scored on another two-yard scamper. Hanner Shipley added two points on the conversion to put Faith up 28-8.

Shipley added a three-yard touchdown reception capped off by Royale Brown’s two-point conversion for a 37-8 halftime lead.

Brown began the second half with a 56-yard touchdown run for a 43-8 advantage.

Shipley caught his second touchdown of the contest, this one from nine yards out. Reyes kicked the extra point, giving Faith a 50-8 lead with three minutes into the third stanza.

CTC added a 31-yard field goal and a touchdown, but it was a bit too late to make a difference in the outcome.
