Vivian Ussery, 73, passed away Sept. 26, 2013. She was born in Burnet, Texas, on Oct. 12, 1939, to James A. and Mabel (Hinds) McGuire and was the second of nine children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest “Chalk” Ussery; parents; and brothers James McGuire and Morris McGuire.
Vivian was a longtime resident of Burnet and Llano counties. She loved to serve others, and, as a waitress, she was an asset to many local restaurants throughout her life. With her caring spirit, a lot of feistiness and a song in her heart, she will be dearly missed.
She is survived by six siblings, Darlene Ray of Lampasas, Shirley Tatum of Belton, LaVerne Ballard and husband Bill of Kingsland, Susie Martin and husband Dennis of Marble Falls, Betty Chambers and husband Jimmy of Buchanan Dam and Jimmy McGuire of Buchanan Dam. She also is survived by daughters, Becky Everett and husband Wendell and Debbie Crain and husband Tommy, all of Burnet; son, Danny Cude and wife Surrett of Burnet; five grandchildren, Allison Everett, Bryan Everett, Kristin Crain, Crystal Cude and Amanda Cude; and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation was Sept. 28 at Edgar Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St. in Burnet, (512) 756-4444. A service was Sept. 29 at Hill Country Tabernacle of Praise with Pastor James East officiating followed by interment at Burnet City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jason Martin, David McGuire, Derrick Ballard, Dalton Ballard, Aaron Murchison and Evan Murchison.
