He was preceded in death by his parents, John Riley and Mary Elizabeth Rose; brothers John Allen “Jay,” Dalton Hershel “Cue,” Ernest Edwin “Horsefly” and Donald Ray “Dunk” Rose; and sisters Gladys “Sis” Kenner, Ruby Faye Warren and Christine “Wasp Nest” Purvis.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Dorothy Melson Rose; daughter, Debra Rose Bradley and husband David of San Antonio; son, Greg Rose and wife Robin of Spicewood; grandson, Matthew Ingram and wife Carrie; three great-grandchildren, Chance Carter, Ethan Riley and Maisie Rose Ingram of Charleston; brother Robert Gene “Bob” Rose; sisters Inez “Slim” Turner, Irene “Fats” Winslett, Nina “Do” DePoyster and Mary Nell “Hoot” Young; and countless nieces, nephews and friends.
He was a great lover of country music, sports and retail grocery and a proud member of Masonic Lodge No. 175 and First Baptist Church of Burnet.
Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sept. 20 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A graveside service is 11 a.m. Sept. 23 in Charleston officiated by the pastor of Charleston Methodist Church, Brother Gary Reagan.
