SMITHVILLE — The Marble Falls High School junior varsity football team defeated Smithville 22-0 on Sept. 5.

The scoring began early after a blocked punt by the Mustangs. Quarterback Ethan Reed scored Marble Falls’ first touchdown from three yards out.

Not to be outdone, the Mustangs defense forced and recovered a fumble in the end zone and then added a safety for a 16-0 halftime lead.

In the second half, C.J. Childers and Marc Hernandez each recorded interceptions for Marble Falls, while Kylen Sconning forced a fumble that was recovered by John Spillman.

Damian Sanchez finished the Mustangs scoring with a long touchdown run.

Marble Falls welcomes Burnet on Sept. 12 to Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive in Marble Falls. The freshman gold team takes the field at 4:30 p.m. followed by the freshman purple squad at 6 p.m. and the junior varsity at 7:30 p.m.
