The newest trend in managing stress is to get your life in balance, and Restorative Skin Care in Marble Falls offers several ways to help accomplish this.

“My main focus is to provide a nice, calming atmosphere for men and women who burn the candle at both ends,” Restorative Skin Care owner Brenda Morris says.

Morris knows first hand the importance of maintaining this balance. As the former owner of a busy print shop and former president of the Marble Falls/Lake LBJ Chamber of Commerce, Morris led an extremely hectic schedule. She also was the town’s first lady during her husband Griff’s terms as mayor.

She decided to sell her printing business and go into a new field: skin care. Morris went back to school and took 750 hours of training to become an aesthetician. She opened Restorative Skin Care in 2000 and has been serving customers in her current location on Third Street since 2011.

Healthy stress management includes massage

In addition to skincare services such as ultrasonic, dermabrasion, custom facials, waxing, body wraps and airbrush tanning, the spa also offers various types of massage. Connie Mendoza, a practicing body therapist for more than 20 years, owns Essential Bodywork. Mendoza also sees the importance of balance in one’s life and says massage and getting In touch with a healthy lifestyle are not just luxuries, they are essential.

“I promote the idea of balancing one’s energy and emotional balance in stressful times as practical,” Mendoza says.

She assures clients of a nurturing, comfortable massage. She also teaches a healthier lifestyle and will give homework to help her clients maintain that balance.

One of her specialties is barefoot body work, also called shiatsu, a vigorous Japanese-style massage done on a table or a mat using the therapist’s feet, knees and hands, rotating the joints to provide deeper work. Yoga and Thai massage also are available for comprehensive body work.
