MARBLE FALLS — The Texas A&M University Aggies get the 2013 college football season rolling Aug. 31 at noon when the Rice Owls visit College Station.

newKBEYAnd KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune will have Aggies football covered this year. Aggies fans can catch the pre-game and post-game shows as well as live play-by-play as Texas A&M begins its second season in the Southeastern Conference.

The broadcast starts at 11 a.m.

Johnny Manziel will attempt a second Heisman-like season after winning the coveted trophy last year.

When Rice runs out onto Kyle Field on Aug. 31, it will be the first time the two teams have met since the demise of the old Southwest Conference in 1995. Yet, the Aggies and the Owls are old foes, meeting annually from 1914 to 1995.

Texas A&M leads the series 50-27-2.

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin has more recent memories of the Rice Owls. Sumlin faced the Owls four times when he was the head coach at the University of Houston from 2008 to 2011.

During those years, Sumlin went 2-2 against Rice.

The Aggies are 25-3 in home openers since 1985. They enter 2013 on a six-game winning streak, which is the second longest in the SEC and the seventh longest in the Football Bowl Subdivision.
