Horseshoe Bay firefighter recovering after rollover accident on FM 1980

TOBEYVILLE — The condition of Horseshoe Bay firefighter Jeff Walker is improving after he was involved in a rollover accident on FM 1980, just west of Marble Falls, according to sources close to his family.About 3 a.m. Aug. 17, Walker was taken to University Medical Center Brackenridge in Austin after the 2011 Dodge pickup he was driving left the roadway in a curve about three-quarters of a mile from RR 1431, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report.
Walker, who is the father of three young boys, joined the Horseshoe Bay Fire Department in 2009.
His fellow firefighters have lent their support to the family.
“We’re positioning ourselves at Brackenridge, so if the family does need something, we are there to provide it or get access to it quickly,” Horseshoe Bay Fire Chief Jim Fierro said.
Walker was taken to Brackenridge in serious condition with life-threatening injuries, DPS reported.
As of Aug. 20, he was reportedly responsive to medical treatment.
The DPS is still investigating the cause of the accident.
