Joan Bruns Koehne, 76, of Marble Falls, Texas, passed away Aug. 13, 2013, in Victoria. She was born April 30, 1937, in Marble Falls to Martin and Lois Crownover Bruns of Round Mountain.

She graduated from Marble Falls High School and San Marcos College.

She married Monroe Koehne in December 1960.

While working as a dental assistant in Victoria for Robert Finley, DDS, being a loving wife and raising three boys, she made sure there was time to be a Little League team mom, a den mother for the Cub Scouts, an active member of the PTA, a loyal member of the Stroman Raider Booster Club and an active church member.

In 1985, she and Monroe moved to Llano to take care of her aging parents. She then became secretary of Bluebonnet Baptist Church in Sunrise Beach for many years. Then, also while raising her granddaughter, she volunteered for five more years of cheer/sports booster club and PTO duties in Johnson City.

She enjoyed hunting, fishing, canning, baking, reading and caring for others.

She touched many lives from her 25 years of calling Victoria home to the 28 years of loving life in the Hill Country, where her life began. Through her difficult battle with Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in the last year, her final months were spent enjoying life surrounded by her family.

Joan is survived by her husband of 52 years, Monroe; sons, Monroe (Patsy) Koehne Jr., Martin David (Melissa) Koehne and Lonnie Wayne (Brenda) Koehne; granddaughters, Hollie (Brian) Morris, Wendy Salas, Callie Koehne and Sarah Koehne; grandsons, Chris Rangnow, Matt Koehne, T.J. Koehne, Steven Koehne and Randy Koehne; great-grandchildren, Chelsea Hernandez, Ty Salas, Lexi Morris, Rhiannon Salas and Danielle Salas; and brothers-in-law, Harvey Koehne and Charles Koehne.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant daughter, Sarah Jane Koehne.

A funeral service is 9 a.m. Aug. 17 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373, with Charles Waugh officiating. Interment will follow at Comanche Creek Cemetery near Llano. A gathering for family and friends also will be held in Victoria 1-4 p.m. Aug. 25 at 407 Dove.

The family requests that, if you so desire, memorial donations be made to Alzheimer’s Research Foundation (www.alzfdn.org) in memory of Joan.
