FROM STAFF REPORTS

LLANO — The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating the cause of a fatal accident that killed a Llano woman July 29 on a remote stretch of Texas 29 West near a spot known as the eagle’s nest observation area.

Kelly Kristine Coleman, 42, was driving a 2011 Mini Cooper Coupe convertible about 12:30 a.m. when the vehicle left the roadway about seven miles east of Llano, according to Trooper Erich Neumann.

“The road curved. She didn’t. She went off the road, snagged the fence and rolled, went through multiple trees and came to rest a quarter-mile from where she went off,” Neumann said.

Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene by Llano County Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Linda Ballard.

DPS reported “speed” might have been a contributing factor.
