OBITUARY: John Charles Schweda Jr., 67, dies July 19, 2013

John Charles Schweda Jr. was born Sept. 24, 1945, to Juanita Philp and Dr. John C. Schweda in Gonzales, Texas.  He passed away July 19, 2013, at his home on Lake LBJ after a short battle with lung cancer.

He graduated in 1963 from Gonzales High School, where he served on the student council and was co-captain of the football team.

John joined the U.S. Air Force, serving four years as an MP and a sharpshooter. After his military career, he graduated from Southwest Texas State University (now Texas State University) in San Marcos with an accounting degree. He also was co-owner and operator of Nephews Club in San Marcos for many years.

John worked with several accounting firms through the years before semi-retirement at the lake, where he continued to do tax work. He got to live out his dreams of full-time golfing, hunting, fishing, cooking and gambling with an occasional tax return prepared. By the way, he is really shooting par golf now.

He is survived by his best friend and soulmate, Randee Russell; son, Shane (Kelly) Schweda of Round Rock; daughter, Johnna (Marcus) Pridgeon; grandsons, Jasen and Jaren Walshak of Austin; sister, Nonadell (Kenneth) Malatek of College Station; sisters-in-law, Sandi (Billie) Peters of Llano and Cindy (John) Brockwell of Boerne; numerous nieces and nephews; and by the love of his life, his shih tzu Bella.

John was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Cpl. Clayton Russell Jester (U.S. Marine Corps); and his spoiled-rotten babies Zima and Muffy.
