BURNET — It didn’t take long for Double Eagle Entertainment producer Damon Beierle to seize the opportunity of having Texas country music artist Granger Smith perform in concert.
“I’ve been wanting Granger Smith in Burnet all summer,” he said with a grin. “At first, we couldn’t get our dates to line up. But they called me about a month ago and asked me if I had a venue on July 13.”
The concert is part of the Summer Music Series sponsored by KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune, The Picayune, Double Eagle Entertainment and the city of Burnet. It takes place July 13 at 8 p.m. at the Haley Nelson Park amphitheater, located off Texas 29 West. Admission is $12 a person.
Smith’s latest album, “Dirt Road Driveway,” is currently No. 3 on the Texas Music Chart.
“By showtime, I’ll almost put money down that he’ll be No. 1,” Beierle said. “He’s knocking on the door, anyway.”
He had hoped to schedule Granger as one of the original four concert performers for the Summer Music Series. But Granger’s management team and Beierle didn’t have a mutual open date.
Granger created another persona, Earl Dibbles Jr., who sings “The Country Boy Song.” Granger has plenty of followers on social media, but Dibbles doubles the number, Beierle said.
But the producer didn’t make a guarantee that Dibbles would make an appearance, adding he wouldn’t be surprised to see him.
“When they gave me the opportunity to have (Granger),” Beierle said, “I couldn’t pass it up because he’s selling out venues across the state. I think this will really showcase the amphitheater.”
A concession stand will be on site, and concert-goers can bring their own coolers, blankets and lawn chairs.
