Collision in RR 1431 construction zone outside Marble Falls sends one to ER

MARBLE FALLS — A Lago Vista man was taken to the emergency room July 10 after a two-vehicle collision in a construction zone about four miles east of the city limits on RR 1431, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The collision occurred just before 11 a.m. when a road work pilot truck was leading a group of vehicles westbound through the construction zone at a reduced speed .
“A commercial vehicle (in the group) was making a left turn on CR 341,” DPS Trooper Rick Mintz said. “Traffic slowed. A black 2005 Ford Explorer was rear-ended by a 2005 Volvo.”
The sport-utility vehicle’s occupants, a 77-year-old male driver and a 79-year-old female passenger from Burnet, refused treatment at the scene.
The Volvo driver, a 67-year-old man from Lago Vista, was transported to Seton Highland Lakes in Burnet with non-life-threatening injuries, the report stated.
