OBITUARY: Dunning Charles Bright, 66, of Marble Falls dies June 12, 2013
Dunning Charles Bright, 66, of Marble Falls passed away peacefully on the morning of June 12, 2013, at his home surrounded by loved ones.
Dunning is survived by his wife of 34 years, Patti Bright; daughters, Leah Petri and husband Chris of Austin, Bonnie Frailicks and husband Bradley of Austin and Katie Bright of Houston; and son, Sam McCall and wife Rachel of Manor. He also is survived by his sister, Rosemary “Dede” Bright of Hearne; grandsons, Walker and Hughes Petri and Nathan McCall; and numerous other family members and friends.
Dunning was born Jan. 11, 1947, in Fort Worth, the son of Albert Dunning and Mary Ellen Bright, who preceded him in death. He grew up in the Austin area. Dunning was a 1965 graduate of the old Austin High School and attended Texas Tech University and Southwest Texas State University.
He was a natural athlete, who excelled in track, and an avid hunter and fisherman. He spent much of his youth on Lake Travis water skiing and with friends on his home-built houseboat.
Dunning began a lifelong love affair with aviation when he acquired his private pilot’s license in 1968. He was captivated by all aspects of aviation and owned several single-engine planes.
He and his wife, Patti, moved to Marble Falls in 1993 with their daughters Bonnie and Katie, and he lived the remainder of his life in the Texas Hill Country.
Since 1968, Dunning was the owner and operator of Casis Cleaners in Austin and later in Marble Falls. He wanted his dry cleaners businesses to excel in quality work and obtained several industry certifications and credentials. He loved being a small business owner and found great joy in the friendships he had with his customers and employees over the years.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of Texas Home Health Home Care and Hospice. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care over the last several weeks of his life were truly a blessing to the entire family.
A memorial service is 10 am. June 18 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. Immediately following the service, burial will be at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, 4219 Park Road 4 South in Burnet. A reception will follow at the funeral home.
