MARBLE FALLS — Members of the Marble Falls High School golf, tennis, powerlifting and track and field teams were honored in awards ceremonies May 16.

“We want to give a special thanks to our seniors,” head track coach Kyle Futrell said. “There’s a lot of value to being a part of a team. You stuck with us and were loyal to the program.”

The track team set several school records, most notably in the 4×400-meter girls relay. The Lady Mustangs relay of Sarah Lewis, Sarah Stripling, Natalie Schulz and Chase Martin ran in 4 minutes 6.46 seconds.

Stripling set the 800-meter school record in 2:20.53, while Cody Schulz set the boys 400-meters school record in 48.68.

The boys golf team improved by 12 strokes during the season and posted a 65-52 record. There were 15 personal bests sets this year, Tackitt said.

The girls were even better, dropping their score by 18 strokes, which ranks third in the program’s history, Tackitt said. Personal bests were set 33 times and the 63-32 record ranks as the best in Lady Mustangs’ history.

The tennis team celebrated sending the doubles team of Ashley Stallard and Madison Dyer to the regional tournament, the squad’s first appearance since 2010.
