New comedy opens at Hill Country Community Theatre
“Charlie Cox Runs With Scissors” opens April 25 and runs through May 5 at the Hill Country Community Theatre in Cottonwood Shores.
Known as a showplace for budding thespians, Hill Country Community Theatre is an all-volunteer, nonprofit venue where area actors stage a variety of performances, including musicals, dramas and comedies. Directed by Todd Essary, the comedy “Charlie Cox Runs With Scissors” tells the story of a middle-age guy on a road trip trying to find the meaning of life. The cast includes Freddie Bonetti of Round Rock as Charlie; Brian Hicks of Marble Falls as Wally; Becky Barton of Marble Falls as Nell; Guy Gober of Marble Falls as Travis and Laura Braden of Marble Falls as Kiki.
Written by Michael McKeever, “Charlie Cox” was named one of the 10 Best Plays of the Year in 2003. It also received the 2004 Carbonell Award and the 2003 Curtains Up Award for Best New Work.

Auditions for the summer production of “Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka” will be held April 29-30. More than 20 roles are available for adults and children. Productions dates are July 18-28. Jenny Lavery will direct. Get ready to learn the more than 20 songs, including “Candy Man,” “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket,” and “Oompa-Loompa.” The costumes should be fun as well.
