OBITUARY: Shannon Bell (O’Brien) Huffman, 47, dies April 22, 2013
Shannon Bell (O’Brien) Huffman departed this life April 22, 2013, at the age of 47. She was born Aug. 24, 1965, in San Antonio, the third of seven girls born to Odie and Sally O’Brien.
Shannon is preceded in death by her daddy, Odie O’Brien; sister and brother-in-law Sally and Daniel Dossey Sr.; and father-in-law, Don Huffman.
She is survived by her husband of 21 years, Ricky Huffman, along with children Matt Huffman and wife Jessica and Christina Huffman and partner Justin Smith. In addition to their children, Shannon and Ricky have four granddaughters: Taylor, Sara, Saige and Halleigh.
Also surviving Shannon is her mother, Sally O’Brien, along with the rest of her sisters, Cindy and husband Brian Sullivan, Hatti and husband Jeff Hartman, Tirish and husband Allen Mynk, Odia and husband Ron Russette and Keren and husband Matthew Schuessler. Also surviving Shannon are her mother-in-law, Barbara Huffman, and Rick’s brother and sister, Joby Huffman and Marcie and husband James Norman. Along with this family, comes 27 nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Shannon married Ricky on Oct. 10, 1992. She loved that man so much! She loved Ricky and their children and loved being “Nonni” to the grandbabies. She loved her horses, dogs and the devil cat along with the turkeys, doves, and squirrels she enjoyed watching in her front yard and her Texas A&M Aggies!
She enjoyed trail riding and the fellowship of the GRA-Trails family. She relished being “Nana” to all her nieces and nephews. But her greatest joy was the girls. If you wanted to see her light up, you asked about her grandbabies!
Shannon’s death leaves an empty spot in our family, but we take comfort knowing she is no longer in pain and suffering. She is with Daddy and Sally now and is at peace.
Until we meet again, Shannon, happy trails to you!
