St. Peter’s Run for the Son in Marble Falls raising money for preschool scholarships

MARBLE FALLS — At least 10 children are receiving some sort of scholarship from last year’s first ever St. Peter’s Run for the Son 5K Race and Walk.
This year’s April 20 event could give even more children the chance to go to preschool.
“We want to make preschool available to all kids, not just (those) who can afford it,” said school director and teacher Tracy Knight.
The 5K, as well as a 1K for children ages 0-10, begins in the parking lot of, Double Horn Brewing Company, 208 Ave. H. Registration is open through the morning of the race. Entry fees for the 5K are $30 per runner, $20 for students 11-18 and $15 for the 1K. Runners get a goodie-bag with coupons from sponsors, and awards will be given to the top three finishers in each age group.
Knight said the school doesn’t have a specific dollar amount for a goal.
“Our goal is to get our name out there to the community,” she said. “We see people out walking and running all the time, and if you enjoy doing that kind of thing, you could put those efforts toward helping a kid.”
The route starts and ends at the Double Horn parking lot and zig-zags between Main Street and Avenue N up to Broadway Street.
