Locals reflect on old 281 bridge as demolition of piers set

MARBLE FALLS — Recent rains have pushed back the date to demolish the remaining piers of the old U.S. 281 bridge to April 5.
The Texas Department of Transportation and contractor Archer Western said the blast remains scheduled “most likely” about 1 p.m. or 2 p.m.
Less than a month after the implosion of the steel truss section of the bridge, the history of the structure remained fresh on the minds of those who witnessed the event.
