LOCALS LOVE US: Marble Falls’ Todd Dodge adds readers’ award to long list of honors

JENNIFER FIERRO • PICAYUNE STAFF

MARBLE FALLS — Marble Falls High School head football coach and athletic director Todd Dodge has been given many awards: USA Today’s Coach of the Year, numerous district coach of the year honors and the Dallas area’s top coach.

And yet, Dodge remains appreciative, especially when he learned he had been chosen by The Picayune readers as the 2013 “Locals Love Us” Best School Coach for the Marble Falls area.

“I was very honored,” he said with a smile. “I was pleased to receive the honor. There are a lot of outstanding coaches in The Picayune’s area.”

Dodge’s first day on the job was Feb. 1, 2012, and he arrived as one of the most successful high school football coaches in the state’s rich history. He guided Southlake Carroll to four state titles in five years from 2002 to 2007 and to mythical national titles in 2004, 2005 and 2006. By the time he left Southlake Carroll for the University of North Texas, he had a 98-11 record.

In addition, Dodge conducts the annual Todd Dodge Quarterback and Receiver Camp each summer. Some of the former quarterbacks who have attended include Christian Ponder, Chase Daniel and Grey McElroy, who all are on NFL rosters. This year’s camp is June 17-20 at Mustang Stadium, 2101 Mustang Drive, and the cost is $180.
