Marble Falls boys golf finish season at district tourney

FROM STAFF REPORTS

LEANDER — The Marble Falls High School boys golf team shot a two-round total of 726 at the District 25-4A tournament, which was good enough for eighth place.

The event was March 25-26.

The Mustangs’ first-round total of 387 meant they were too far behind after the first day to make a serious run at finishing first or second in the tournament to qualify for the playoffs.

“We just could not make anything up,” Marble Falls head coach Lonnie Tackitt said.

But the Mustangs didn’t go away quietly, he added, noting the golfers shot a 339 on March 26.

“I was proud of the way we played, which was more like what I felt we could do,” Tackitt said.

RESULTS: Jack Scott 87-79–166; Micah Wooten 100-84–184; Nick O’Connor 96-88–184; Dawson Taylor 105-88–193; Ben Mezger 104-95–199
