MARBLE FALLS — The Marble Falls and Burnet high school girls basketball teams received district, region and state honors for their performances during the 2012-2013 season.

The Lady Dawgs, who were the runners-up in District 8-3A, lost 60-52 in the second round of the Class 3A playoffs to Wichita Falls Hirschi. The Lady Mustangs finished District 25-4A play in fifth place with a 5-7 record.

ALL-REGION: Marble Falls – junior guard Sarah Stripling; Burnet – sophomore guard Riley Scott. “This selection is usually reserved for juniors or seniors, so it was exciting to see that Riley’s abilities as an outstanding young player are being recognized,” Burnet head coach Mike Cavender said. Only 20 players from each region are selected to the team.

CLASS 3A ACADEMIC ALL-STATE: Burnet – Madi Parker and Logan Skoog, who had to maintain a 92 or above average for seven semesters beginning in the ninth grade.

ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT: Burnet – Amber Sprankle, Riley Scott, Shelby Wilson, Valerie Solis, Danielle Lindley, Lauren Beckwith, Shaylah Hullum, Baylee Daniell, Brooke Hemphill and Skoog; Marble Falls – Hayley Fishbeck, Hayley Stephens, Sarah Stripling, Katy Bartels, Blanca Fonseca, Teagan Hall, Hanna Wall, Jessica England, Reann Hall, Emily Klingsporn, Shelby Jordan and Alex Southworth
