Marble Falls softball falls to Cedar Park 7-1
FROM STAFF REPORTS
CEDAR PARK — The Marble Falls High School softball team lost to Cedar Park 7-1 on March 13.
The Lady Mustangs scored their run in the first inning and led until the fifth, when the Lady Wolves scored two runs off a triple and a fielder’s choice.
Cedar Park then scored five more runs in the sixth inning.
“A couple of those balls they counted as hits (by Cedar Park) could be construed as errors,” Lady Mustangs head coach Tino Salazar said. “We weren’t sharp. We looked like we fizzed out and got frustrated.”
Salazar said there were some miscues early in the game, but Marble Falls got out of them without giving up a run.
Cedar Park senior pitcher Jess Elder gave up four hits and struck out six in seven innings.
Salazar said District 25-4A teams that succeed commit very few errors and pounce on opponents who do, he said.
“It’ll be a dog fight (in district play),” he said. “We didn’t handle the pressure well (against Cedar Park.)”
ON OFFENSE: RBI – Hailey Wooten 1
ON DEFENSE: Losing pitcher – Makenzie Carpenter (11-4) 7 runs off 9 hits, 2 walks and 9 strikeouts in six innings
RECORDS: Marble Falls is 16-5 overall and 1-2 in District 25-4A.
