COLLEGE STATION — The Marble Falls High School softball team went 2-1 in pool play of the  College Station Tournament on Feb. 28-March 1.

Marble Falls beat Victoria East 9-3 and Magnolia West 7-6 but lost to Little Cypress-Mauriceville 3-0.

After Victoria West took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, Marble Falls answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning, two more in the fourth and four in the fifth. The game ended in the sixth inning because of time.

The Lady Mustangs scored three runs in the first inning and four in the second for the victory against Magnolia West.

In the loss, Marble Falls head coach Tino Salazar said the bats went cold.

AGAINST VICTORIA EAST: Offense – RBIs: Amanda Thomas 2, Tyler Oppenheim 1, Hailey Wooten 1; hits: Thomas 4, Oppenheim 1. Defense – Pitcher Amanda Thomas (4-1) 3 runs off 6 hits, 9 strikeouts; Marble Falls committed 3 errors, while West committed 6.

AGAINST MAGNOLIA WEST: Offense – RBIs: Amanda Thomas 5, Abby Henry 4; walks: Hayley Fishbeck 2, Naomi Macias 2. Defense – Pitcher Thomas 6 runs off 12 hits, 3 strikeouts; Marble Falls committed 2 errors.

AGAINST LITTLE CYPRESS-MAURICEVILLE: Offense – hits: Tyler Oppenheim 2. Defense – pitcher Makenzie Carpenter (9-2) 3 runs off 6 hits, 8 strikeouts; Marble Falls committed 2 errors.

RECORDS: Marble Falls is 13-2 overall and 0-1 in District 25-4A play.
