FROM STAFF REPORTS

AUSTIN — The Marble Falls High School girls soccer team lost 6-0 to Leander Vandegrift on Feb. 26.

The Lady Vipers led 1-0 at the half lead and added another goal in the second half that Lady Mustangs head coach Trey Young took note of.

It came from a corner kick to a 6-foot-3-inch player who whipped her leg on the ball to knock it into the corner of the net.

“It’s just one of those shots that can’t be stopped,” Young said.

Marble Falls played well in the first half but looked like it ran out of steam by halftime, he said, which made staying close to opposing shooters a challenge.

“I think we get tired, and that leads to not marking like we marked in the first half,” he said.

Four games remain in the season, and Young said if the Lady Mustangs have any hope of qualifying for the playoffs, they must get on a winning streak.

“It’s crunch time,” he said. “We definitely have to get after it.”
