Marble Falls boys soccer begins second round of district with loss to Vandegrift
FROM STAFF REPORTS
MARBLE FALLS — The start of the second round of District 51-4A play demonstrated the parity between the Marble Falls High School boys soccer team and Leander Vandegrift.
But in the end, Vandegrift knocked in a goal with 2 minutes 50 seconds remaining in the game to win 2-1.
Mustangs head coach Michael Nave noted neither team made a mistake that would have allowed the opponent to capitalize. There were no breakaway goals, no uncontested looks at the net.
“Two teams both playing at a high level battling each other,” he said. “Their central defenders are really strong and fast. I thought our defense played very well, and our keeper played well. We simply gave them too many touches in the final third. ”
