Olympian Leonel Manzano to receive award at sports gala

LOS ANGELES — Olympian Leonel Manzano will receive the Male Running Performance of the Year Award during the 21st annual Endurance LIVE Sports Awards Gala on Feb. 23.

Manzano, a 2004 graduate of Marble Falls High School and a former Granite Shoals resident, earned the silver medal in the men’s 1,500 meters at the London 2012 Summer Olympics, becoming the first American middle-distance male runner to medal at the Olympics since Jim Ryun earned a silver medal in 1968, according to a news release.
Ryun will present Manzano with the award at the Feb. 23 event.
The Endurance LIVE Sports Awards honor the best runners, cyclists, triathletes and top endurance performers from the previous year.
