Bulldogs’ loss puts them in second-place tie with Gatesville; coin toss to determine playoff opponents

GATESVILLE — Gatesville was slightly better at the end of every quarter against the Burnet High School boys basketball team Feb. 12. The Bulldogs lost 47-38 and tied the Hornets for second in District 8-3A.

Both teams’ coaches decided to flip a coin for second and third places during the district meeting the evening of Feb. 13. The outcome of the coin flip also will determine the opponent of each team in the first round of the playoffs.

The Hornets outscored the Bulldogs 10-8 in the first quarter, 12-7 in the  third and 16-14 in the fourth. The two squads played even at 9-9 in the second.

Gatesville was 17-of-21 from the foul line; Burnet was 7-of-7.
