OBITUARY: Ronald Mikkelson, 77, of Horseshoe Bay owned landscaping company

Ronald McRea Mikkelson, 77, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, passed away peacefully Feb. 9, 2013. He was born April 2, 1935, in Blue Earth, Minn.

He moved from Benson, Minn., in 1978 to Burnet and later to Horseshoe Bay, where he owned and operated Mikkelson Landscaping. He also was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus.

Ron was preceded in death by his son Douglas; brother Donald Mikkelson; and brothers-in-law John Birk and Willard Schimmel and his wife, Esther.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Evonne of Horseshoe Bay; son the Rev. Scott Mikkelson of Georgetown; and daughter, Sheryl Schnitzler and husband Jerry of Horseshoe Bay. Also surviving are grandchildren, Ryan Schnitzler and wife Chandra, Jason Schnitzler and wife Rachel and Jake Schnitzler and wife Lillian; and great-grandchildren, Mason, Lila, Khai and Makenna. Ron is also survived by brother Terry Mikkelson and wife Carolyn of Blue Earth; sister-in-law Thelma of New Ulm; and numerous nephews, nieces and other relatives.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Feb. 14 at St. Paul the Apostle Chapel in Horseshoe Bay with the Revs. Scott Mikkelson and Ruben Patino officiating. Entombment will follow at Horseshoe Bay Mausoleum. Pallbearers are Terry Mikkelson, Ryan Schnitzler, Jason Schnitzler, Jake Schnitzler, Rudy Franco and William Hernandez. Honorary pallbearers are Seth Henderson, Doug Ripple, Steve Nash and Steve Hall.

The family asks memorial contributions in memory of Ron be made to the Salvation Army.
